Links

In the current software is there a way to create links a macro to an entire cue list, so that when a list is loaded the macro will execute?

I would like to be able to set up the last cue in my chanel check que list to link to my primary show que list and to a macro. Is there a way to do this now?

  • Why not just make a macro link in that last cue to GoTo Cue X/Y and then whatever macro?

That is what I have wound up doing. It just seamed to be cleaner in my little mind if i could do it as two operations rather then one macro. Also for me on the ION, since I do not have the ability to do snapshots I have been trying to do some screen view control through macros. Being able to link a macro to the loading of a cue list would just give me a bit more control.

  • Just add to the public knowledge about this subject. What I wound up doing was putting an execute command, that fires the first cue in my main show cue list,  on the last cue in my pre-show check out cue list. Then I put a delay time of 15 minutes on the first cue in the main cue list. This seams to work well, accept for one thing. I have not been able to get my play back screen to display my main cue list until I press GO to execute the next cue in the list. I tried to change the screen with a macro, [cue][1][/][enter]. This macro works by typing it in, [macro][12][enter]. And it also works form the direct selects. But I cannot get it to execute form a cue. The desk will let me put in two execute comands for the last cue in my pre-show list. But when I tried it out, nether the execute cue nor the execute macro worked. Any suggestions?

  • I think there may be a macro link bug in this version. Right guys?
  • We're not aware of any new macro defect in 1.4.2.

If you execute a macro from a cue, Eos runs the macro in the background so that it does not affect your command line when you play it back. This is the right behavior for some situtations, but for what you want to do, it needs to be run on your command line. We plan to add the ability to specificy if the macro should be run in the background or on the user's command line, but currently it always chooses background.

  • That makes sense. So that is why macro wait times do not display when you execute a macro from a cue that has a time delay in it. But I am also having problems getting a cue to execute both another cue and a macro. The ION does not appear to be performing ether operation. But it allows me to input multiple execute targets for the cue (i.e. cue 99/20 executes both macro 11 and cue 1/0.01).
  • Are you wanting cuelist 1 to run on the same playback as cuelist 99? If so, use [link] instead of [execute]. [Link] loads the linked cue on the current cue's playback, [execute] finds whichever playback is running that cuelist and runs the cue there. Use [Follow] to run the linked cue without pressing [Go]

Also, Ion now defaults to a 1 to 1 sub mapping, so there are no playbacks available to run cuelist 99 on unless you release one of your submaster faders.

  • What I am doing is using cue list 99 as my pre-show check out cue list. I have set up the last cue in list 99 to execute cue 1/0.01, which is the first cue in my main show cue list. I have set cue 1/0.01 to have a delay of 15 minutes so that the console will be in pre-set when house opens. What I was also trying to do is run a macro that would change my cue status display to reflect that I was now running list 1 rather then list 99. But as I was informed executed macros are run independantly of the comand line and I am trying to use the comand line in the macro. It works ok for now. All I have to do when I get back up to the console is run the screen change macro and it is all good.

It is funny that you mention the default mapping. I found that out and decided to make a default ION show form my self so that I could have the desk setup the way I want it when I start a new show.

Thanks for all they help Duffy. I really apreceate it.

  • Regarding Macros not executing from a linked cuelist. The El Cap guys were having problems of not having macros execute from a cue in a multi console situation. I'll find out more.
  • Thanks Jason.  Would appreciate the feedback on this one.  That's not made it back to us yet.
