Using Notebook as a Lighting Console...

Hello... I have the following software... Elo Touchscreen drivers, EOS v. 2.3 0 XKeys, ETC EOS Family Pixel Mapping, ETC EOS Family v. 2.6.4.9.0.3 , ETC HS driver 10 v. 1.4.2, ETC touchscreen driver, Fixture Library update v. 2.6.4, Build 13 for EOS Family.

What do I need to use my notebook as a Lighting Console?
Do I need a "Gateway" , a Cnomad Key, or a Dongle?

I am using a HP 15ac137cl running Windows 10. Build 10240 X64 based system.

Hard Drive is a HGST Travelstar 5K1000 1Terabyte
8GB
Intel Core i3 -500 5u CPU @2.00GHZ , 2 Cores, 4 Logical Processors..... Thanks.

    1. You need the licence dongle or your lights will flash randomly every 5 to 10 mins

    2. You need either

The ETC Gadget which outputs to normal DMX cable

    OR

You can just connect the laptop via an ethernet cable plugged into its nornal ethernet socket with the other end of the cable (optionally through a normal network switch) going into an Artnet or sACN to DMX converter.

So on my portable rig, I do the later and use www.amazon.com/.../B00TDGS6AS but there are lots of equivalents and I think I paid a slightly better price than that link.

(I used this as ethernet cable is easier for long runs and also I can extend an inhouse rig as usually they are ethernet wired so I can add my lights on a separate universe easily even if all their DMX outs are committed - that was why I originally did it)
