ETC Nomad on Linux

Hello,

is there any chance releasing Nomad for Linux? I'm thinking about purchasing but as I have whole my infrastructure build on Linux I do not want to prepare PC with Windows or buy a mac. I see that the software is build using QT, libusb and similar cross-platform libs so it should not probably be a big issue. Even if I understand that most of market use win/mac platform, Linux is growing and considered more stable by many people. Eg. Luminosus can be compiled natively on linux without any issues :)

I also tried it using wine, it sort of works, but I doubt that it will work with usb key and I was not able to connect arfr.

thanks
Jan

  • Actually, I doubt that there will be a Linux version. If that was planned or available, I doubt they would run consoles on Win embedded.... wouldn't make much sense.

If you want to use Nomad for actually running shows, you might want to consider a dedicated system anyway. If you check, the specs, you'll find out that you can work pretty well on a very cheap (~300€ without monitor) System. A cheap Pentium should do (about 40€ or so). If you build it yourself, you can also customize in terms of how many monitors, what additional outputs, racks, cases etc....
