ETC Nomad with USB-C

I own ETC nomad and have basic adapters for USB 1 (regular; still confused about terminology) to USB-C but the MacBook Pro isn't recognizing that anything is plugged in. I feel like the problem is that these adapters were cheap ones from Amazon, but I don't really know. The MacBook is a 2016 model, Pro, and is currently running High Sierra.

I downloaded the software online, the key still wasn't recognized anywhere on the MacBook. However, Eos recognized it, so it's functioning.

Eos 2.9.0 does not support macOS Catalina. If you upgrade to Eos 2.9.1, that should resolve your issues! Updating Eos ETCnomad Software on Windows or macOS

Is it not recognising the licence key dongle?

That definitely works on the Mac's with USB C using apples USB-C to USB-A cable as that is what I run.

I cant say if the Gadget works ok as I run over ethernet to Artnet/sACN box

It a Macbook Pro from summer 2017 but I am running Sierra not High Sierra though as generally paranoid about OS updates :)

Nope. I’ve tried the installation key and the regular one. There’s no recognition. I’m really thinking that this is the Apple not liking when you use non apple accessories/cables. It’s not the OS either because I updated to High Sierra with the hopes that that was the issue.

If the mac is not recognising the installation one as well as the licence one, then the convertor is just not working (or not working with a mac) as that's just a normal usb memory stick. Has it worked in any situation or with any other machine.

The converter works with a basic mouse and flash drive on the mac, and the key has worked on a windows computer

OK sounding a bit odd.

This may be a dumb question but the licence key dongle was plugged in and its led lit up before you fired up the "Eos Family Welcome Screen" ie the one that has the buttons for Offline, Offline w/viz or Primary, backup etc. If that is running when you put the licence dongle in it doesn't recognise it.

Does it show up in "About this Mac", Overview,System Report,USB ?

Licence key lit up but on the Mac nothing it recognized. Welcome screen doesn't come up, nothing listed in about this mac or system report.

I'm just going to take a step back and ask if you've installed the software?

Even then It doesn't launch automatically when you plug in the license key

you would launch it from finder or launch control on the Mac

When you launch it with nothing plugged in the welcome screen still comes up and lets you run in offline or offline with viz

So before worrying about the USB bits is the software installed and working ok (you install by downloading it from etc)

Great good to know it's working

For reference as the dongle is a software key not a memory stick you won't see anything happen when you put it in on a Mac (on windows you might as on windows drivers have to be installed).

The only place you will see it (other than it being recognised in Nomads) is in "About this Mac" (click on the apple at top left of screen), Overview Tab, System Report, and then USB

It appears as below, its listed as Sentinel HL
