Ion link loop problems

You say 2/1 is an exact copy of 1/27 if so wouldn't that mean it would make the light vertical - don't you want that cue to be completely empty so it doesn't conflict with cue 1/26

Also it all seems more complicated than it needs to be can't you just set cue 28 to follow after the correct time anyway ?

i bet this has something to do with your execute construction. why do you do the execute at all? it shouldn't be needed, not even to fully automate everything.
when you hit cue 27 the first time, not only do you get looped back but alsi the other cuelist executes. it has moveinstructions as well and will steal ownership from the first cuelist. so now the first cuelist doesn't own anything anymore that's why nothing moves anymore.

Thats what I originally thought too, however even when I take the execute out it still stays stuck and wont move.

side note, what else would I do besides the execute? i'm a student and still learning to program

I will try to make absolutely no commands in 2/1 but its not the problem because even when I take the execute rder out of the cue it still wont work so its not the execute.

I've now had a chance to set this up myself so the following works

On cue 26 set the follow time eg 1 second
On cue 27 set the follow time eg 1 second
On cue 27 set link to 26 loop 4 ( so it does the sequence 5 times in all)

That should all work simply and is the obvious bit.

What is slightly awkward is that when it finishes the loop it doesn't move onto cue 28 automatically ie the follow does seem to apply.

The solution to this is to record a macro that is just pressing the GO button.

Then edit the macro and insert a wait 10 before the go.

Then insert a cue before 26 eg 25.5 with nothing in it at all and a follow time of 0 and an execute macro to run your macro.

Then with the example above when cue 25.5 runs it starts the macros which starts counting down 10 seconds and goes straight to cue 26 which runs for 1 second and fires up 27 which runs for one second and loops back to 26.

After 5 times ie 10 seconds the loop stops looping and the wait in the macro completes and presses GO and you are on cue 28

I tested this just now and it works as above.

Thank you everyone for your input, I was able to get the "Go after loop" SK to work and now it moves on fine, although I still had the problem of the lights not changing during the loop, they would still get stuck after the loop was initiated, I was able to fix this by making cue 26 assert over 27, I don't know what was the problem, all I know is that its fixed now. Thanks!

Ah I missed that "Go After Loop" had got added back in 2.4.0 never actually had to do it (and it is a bit hidden on the UI with three clicks to get to it), so just went to a macro as they can normally be used to "fix" things.
