REM DIM and NPs

It would be helpful if REM DIM only affected intensity.  e.g. Studio Spot is highliting an actor in a bright cue with lots of conventionals.  The director warns you just before the scene "I moved the actor"  So you REM DIM the Studio Spot to reset the position.  If I update the preset now, I will update all dimmer channels to zero.  If I want to see how the new position marries with the dimmers: REM DIM but the Studio Spot reverts back to the preset data.  Understand?

Should I use a command like: [update] [focus] [preset] xx [enter] ?

Also on update... I have no success with the following: [update] [focus palette] direct select #xx.  I always have to use hard keys.

  • Hi,

To avoid updating levels of channels you have sent to 0 you should use a selective store for the update- ie. [Chan no.] [update] [Preset] [x]

When you try to update a Focus palette on a direct select you do not need the [Focus Palette] key. [Update] then [Direct Select x] should work fine.

    Hope this answers your questions.

  • It sounds like Highlight would be more helpful to you here.

If you go to Desk Setup, Manual Controls, you will see the option,High/Low Rem-Dim, change the default from Disabled to Enabled.

Back in Live if you now say [Chan No] [High – Low] [Enter]your channel will stay at full but every other channel will be at 0. Now makeyour changes to your pan and tilt. After you have made your changes just press[High – Low] again (no enter this time) and all your other channels will returnto there original levels but your pan and tilt wont move back.

Highlight has lots of default setting, for example it willplace the highlighted channel in open white and remove any gobos. If you don’t wantyour channels to loss there colour and gobo, record a preset that has yourchannels at full with no parameter information. Then back in Desk Set-up apply your new preset number toHighlight Preset.

    Hope this is helpful
