silly question for offline editor updates

As I dig deeper into the abilities of Ion, I'm now getting to the offline editor and USB dongle for my desktop.

The package came with an Eos CD, and the dongle.  Obviously the version on the CD is older than the current release of 1.4.2.

When I upgrade the console software, I'll need to upgrade the offline editor at the same time, correct?

Do I need to install the CD version first and upgrade that using the Offline/Client version 1.4.2 on the website, or can I directly install the Offline/Client version 1.4.2 from the website?

 Thanks.

  • Andrew,

I believe that ETC do strongly recommend all parts of your system are running the same software version. On the Client/Offline software, you can just download the latest version from the website and install it on your computer. No need to install the CD version first.

  • It is necessary that all parts of an Eos/Ion (or Congo) system are running the same version of console software.

Don't bother using the CD included with the Client kit - just download the Client/Offline software from the Eos/Ion software download page and use that installer.

In fact - Anne, how about scrapping the CD as nobody will ever be in a position to use it?
