Cutting to cues on the ION

Sorry to kind of repeat a question, as I know it has been asked before, but the answers didn't make much sense.
I have been used to using a strand or an avo, so am finding everything a bit double dutch at the moment.

Is there a way on the ION to cut to a cue, not necessarily the next one in the stack, without typing
[go to cue] [#] [time] [0] [enter] or swiping the timing faders up and down?

At the moment every time we hit [go to cue] it fades over 5 seconds, regardless of the fade time on the cue

 Cheers for any help

  • Hi,

    Two solutions to your problem:

    1. Change the Default timing of Goto Cue in setup to 0. You still have to type the same syntax, but you won't be waiting 5 seconds for the fade.

    2. On Ion, hold down [Fader controls],  press the {Timing disable} softkey, and then the [Load] key for your playback. This will disable the timing for that playback so Goto Cue, Go and Back instructions will snap rather than follow the timings. To re-enable timing go thru the same syntax again.

    Hope this helps

  • Found the goto time setting in setup, but it's greyed out, any ideas?
THe second method is probably not what I'm trying to do, as we're just jumping around a bit during a tech, so want most fade times left as they are

Even though it's greyed out you should be able to just click the time, enter whatever new time you want with the keypad, then press [Enter].

  • Cheers for that.

Having used the blind and update functions a bit it would seem the etc is approaching strand level on the "which desks we like to use" list.  Guess it all comes down to familiarity, unfortunately we don't get to play with movers, which I can see as being as major plus for the ION over a 530
