Groups with Multi Cell fixtures

So, let's say I have a cyc with two banks of CF72 fixtures, one across the top, one across the bottom. Let's further say that I want to build a group for using fans and effects across this in a couple of different configurations; paired top and bottom, and paired mirror out.  Is there a native way to build these using the multicell fixtures, or would I have to take the time to type in : (Chan 201 Cell 1 + Chan 206 Cell 1) + (Chan 201 Cell 2 + Chan 206 Cell 2) + ...?

  • Let's say Group 201 = [201] [Through] [210] [.] [1] [Enter] ... That's Cell 1 on Channels 201 through 210.
    or . . . Group 201 = [201] [Thru] [210] [.] [1] {Offset} [2] [Enter] ... That's Cell 1 on Channels 201, 203, 205, 207, 209.

Does that help? or were you looking for more?
  • Not quite. I'm looking to have a Group setup where the selection would either run so that each matching cell, top and bottom, would get the same command, all across the cyc, one group running left to right, one right to left, and one centre out.
In the past, I did take a maintenance day to key in each of these, but I'd rather avoid the tedium again if I swap out to Multi Cell patching of the fixtures.
My fixtures are currently divided up into each cell as a channel, so my left to right grouping is (201+261)+(202+262)+(203+263)+...+(259+319)+(260+320).
My center out grouping is (230+231+290+291)+(229+232+289+292)+...+(201+260+261+320).
I'm looking to see if there's an easier way to create these groups with the MultiCell units.
  • Morris,

I set up a quick test showfile with MC colorforces in 6 cell mode.

I built a few groups, the best way that I've found is setting your top cyc to be the color you want; for my purposes, I built 2 color palettes, and did a gradient across the top cyc unit group, and then recalled the settings of the top group from the bottom group.

My top group's selection was: [1] [Thru] [3] [.] [Record] [Group] [1] [Enter]

My bottom group's selection was: [11] [Thru] [13] [.] [Record] [Group] [1] [Enter]

Creating mirror in/out groups should be pretty similar.

    Is this your desired outcome?

    :)
