Independent channel or dimmers???

HI,

We are upgrading from a Obsession II to a new Ion. One thing we have come across is that it apears that you cannot assign a channel or dimmer to be independent as you could on the Obsession.

Example of how this is effects us:

We have S4's with Morphesis Color Faders patched as intensity channels, not as Moving Lights or Compound Channels. (We transfered the current show from the Obsesion II via a ASCII file and that is why we have the faders as 3 seperate control channels). We often use rem dim, and every time we do it slams the faders to clear (0%). With the Obsession II, we would set these channels as Independent to avoid this.

Any tips? As there a way of patching these channels to be Independent. Is there another way we can rem dim everything except the selection and the faders. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

  • Chris,

Just out ouf cureosity why not patch them with the Morpheus personality on the ION? It would enable you to use some of the really nice features that the software has to offer, like the colour picker.

  • Seriously, there's not a way to do this?  I could really use independent channels that are not affected by the GM.  Example, we do lots of dance recitals that I run on subs, I want to be able to have my MC or other  lights come up manually with the GM down, and also not have my houselights unable to come on in an emergency.

If there is a way to do this without independent channels, I'd love to know about it.

PS, we just unpacked our ION on Wednesday, and are in the middle of our first show with it right this very minute!

  • I think that an independent status in patch is a 'must have' functionality.  I want also get house lights and non-dim effect be unaffected by the GM and BO. For example, we use normaly the non-dim effects for HMI-VG on Submasters, with ION/EOS there is no way to use them in our style, we have to park it.

  • You could make the submasters Exclusives. They would still be affected by the B/O button, and some other manual controls. But they are not effected by the GM and other record targets. It is worth investigating to see if that will work better for you then Park.

Still would like to know how to do this!  I really would like to have submasters that are not affected in any way by the GM or Blackout button.  True independents like I had with my 48/96 facepanel. . .
