XP Consoles/Long term Show file backwards compatibility

Hello Friendly ETC People,

I have a follow-up question related to the end of software released for XP Consoles.  Is there any plan to add/support/allow for backsaving show files to whatever the latest version supported by XP consoles is?  I have a number of artists come in with show files that they've developed elsewhere, it would be nice if they had an easy way to save a showfile that will be known to work on XP consoles (with the understanding that new features/bits added in new versions would no longer exist, of course).

Thanks!

  • Hi

Just bumping this up the line as I have had the same queries ruminating around my head.

There have been a lot of ETC Ion's sold in Ireland and this will become a query/issue in the future. About 70 % of these would be Windows XP models.

Even if items are not backward compatible ( understandable), it would be great to get a confirmation just to prevent confusion on the day of a show .

    cheers

  • It has been the case for quite a long time now that you can open a show file saved on a newer version of Eos in an older version of software. When you do this, as you've suggested the newer features will not be available, but the show file can still be used.

I see no reason why this would change unless the file format changes significantly.

    Cheers
