Fixture profile creation in 2.7.1.7 difficulties

I am trying to create a fixture profile in the latest 2.7.1.7 SW but can't change the DMX column. The DMX order won't change.  Do we have to create profiles differently now?

  • Hi Clive,

There have been a handful of fixture editor bug fixes in 2.7.2. It's unclear if it would address the problem you're running into - can you describe it a bit further?

For example, one that stands out for me reading your post is that there was a bug in 2.7.0 about changing a parameter from 16bit back to 8bit that is now addressed by 2.7.2. (Currently in open beta, see this link for 2.7 open beta info: community.etcconnect.com/.../eos-v2-7-0-now-available-for-open-beta)

Is there a particular profile you're trying to create or edit? What kind of parameter won't change, and how many other parameters are in the fixture?
  • Hi Hans,
I was trying to create a temporary profile to test out the new elumen8 Endura 1Q120 RGBW COB Exterior Fixture. But as I am now going to purchase some of these units I will be requesting a Library update for it.
Problems I had in creating the profile - it has 9 dmx parameters (Red, Green, Blue, White, Strobe, Dimmer (16 bit), macro & dimmer curve) plus the automatically generated Intensity, Hue, Saturation, Brightness. Problems I had include:
    1. the 16 bit back to 8 bit one you mention
    2. not being able to change the dmx number order if parameters were loaded in the wrong order, I had to change the parameter instead and re-do ranges when I realised I had the parameters in the wrong order as the "8b:5", for example, was fixed. I could change "8b:5" to "8b:6" but as soon as I pressed enter it returned to "8b:5"
I had to start over a few times to get the profile set-up, but it is still not fully correct, but was good enough to test out the fixture, so job done for now.
I propose to now do the following: Request an official library update for this fixture, please, and wait for 2.7.2 to be released.
    Thanks a lot.
  • Hi Clive - sounds good. I'd be happy to get the profile request rolling. Can you post a link to the manual for the fixtures? Our usual turnaround time for fixture profiles is around 2 weeks - let me know if you need it sooner and we'll see what we can do.
  • Hi Hans,
Thanks. The link to the manual is www.prolight.co.uk/.../ELUM454_Manual.pdf
Two weeks will be fine, just-in-time, thanks.
