intensity on magic sheet

Scratching my head. I know it's me but can't pinpoint it.

Modifying a show file from last year. Changed 8 Blizzard SkyBars to 12 Blizzard HotStickEXA. Channels 501 thru 508 remained the same with added 509 thru 512 and patch changed.

I have looked at the patch a zillion times and confirmed the channels are 501 thru 512 and the fixtures are correct in the correct mode; 11 channel.

Here is what happens on the Magic Sheet:

Select all show fixtures with color At At and all show FL in red except 501 thru 512. They show no intensity status before any color is selected. But when certain colors are selected from EITHER a color pallet OR manually from the actual fixture selection in ML Control, the intensity will show FL+ in white on the Magic Sheet.

This happens with Red, Orange and a couple other colors then the remaining colors show NO intensity on the Magic Sheet.

Intensity shows FL in every other location except the Magic Sheet.

I have deleted the channels and redone them. I have deleted one of each of the colors that show FL+ in white and that don't show any intensity and recreated them and no fix.

I have deleted the fixtures from the Magic Sheet and redid them and no fix.

I have moved the fixtures from 501 thru 512 to 601 thru 612 and no fix.

There are NO now, nor were there any before, submasters with these fixtures. The subs ONLY were and still are one channel conventional fixtures; Lekos and a hazer that I have patched as dimmer for one channel control.

There are many cues so not sure if that is doing something, however again, I did delete those channels and redo them.

This only happens to those fixtures when selecting colors from either the ML controls or the predone color pallets and it is only on the Magic Sheet. When looking at other screens intensity is always FL in red when bringing them up manually.

  • Update. So I decided to open a brand new show and create a brand new Magic Sheet. I patched only one of the questionable fixtures; Blizzard HotStick EXA 11 channel mode to channel 501. I clicked on that one fixture with the one patch and dbl tapped @ for full intensity. This time it showed a red FL+. I then completed the full patch of the whole show and same thing with that one fixture; Red FL+ when selecting it and @@. I then copied and pasted all the other Magic Sheet items onto the new Magic Sheet EXCEPT those 12 Blizzard fixtures.
I tested the one Blizzard again with channel 501 @@ and it still worked showing FL+ in red.
I then copied and pasted 11 more of the same Blizzard HotStick EXA's and assigned them their channels, 502-512. All 12 showed FL+ when opening @@ and when selecting their color from the ML Controls the FL+ remained red through all of them.
I then merged the color pallets from the original show file and again selected all 12 Blizzards, along with all show file Color fixtures and recorded each color on each palette; red, orange, yellow, green, etc. until all my colors were done.
The Blizzards still show a red FL+ when doing 501 thru 512 @@
Here is what I don't understand now. What does the FL+ mean? All the other fixtures; led, conventional, etc. just show FL in red. There is no + sign after FL. I don't recall ever seeing that on any show for anything on the Magic Sheet. When looking in the active channels view only FL shows.
  • The plus sign means that a channel has one or more intensity parameters other than the master intensity, that are not at home.

  • Thanks John. The Blizzard HotStick EXA user manual shows it has a dimmer ch and each color channel show as "intensity". Funny but the ADJ 12P Hex fixture manual also shows a dimmer channel but shows each color channel as "0%-100%" and they don't have the plus sign on the Magic Sheet. I'm guessing it has to do with what is selected in the fixture build in the ETC consoles. I will look at them on my console and see what was used differently. It's not a big deal at all but I am curious.

    Right.

  • Well the missing intensity happened again on another show file and I found out more.
When using Selador fixtures from the fixture picks with them placed on the MS either perfectly horizontal or perfectly vertical and putting intensity position top or bottom with the selection to put it closest to the fixture outline certain colors cause the intensity to disappear. Not sure if the intensity is "hiding" or what but when I move the location of the intensity to other positions the intensity shows up on all colors.
Again, it only happens with certain colors.
Also finding out that with fixtures rotated various angles, certain intensity positions also fail to show up, even if no color is selected just using @@. When the fixture is rotated back horizontal or vertical or the intensity position is moved the intensity will show.
I know I am not explaining this properly but hope someone understands.
