ETC ION Channel Tracking in Cues

Hello,

I built light cues for a play and also running the board for the show.

First few shows, there were some channels up in blackouts. I took them out, Update > Cue > Enter, all was well until the show last night - again, random light up during black out.  I'm assuming they're tracking. How do I stop this from happening?

For what it's worth - there's three other technicians running the board, occasionally and we DO use the board for other shows in between that require minimal lighting and no cues.

I read about "Asserting/Blocking" blackout cues.  Can someone explain how this is done?

Thank you!!!

  • if you record a cue to Track, values in that cue will track through each subsequent cue until each channel individually encounters a data change.

to block this from happening, add a Block command to your black out cues. [Cue] # {Block} [Enter]. {Block} is a softkey on an Ion.

a block command has the effect of forcing the console to consider each channel levels as a "new" level that cannot be Tracked into. Blocked channel intensities/data appear in White.

You could also record your blackout cues with every channel at 01%. since each channel will move to this new intensity, record commands will NOT track into that cue.

You can also Block individual channels. Chan XX {block} enter.

Tracking/block also works for non-intensity data also: Focus, colour, beam etc.

    Does all this help?

    Andrew
