[Sneak] problems

Still messing with ETCnomad waiting for real Element 2 board. And having problems replacing [Release]  with [Sneak].

I set 20 thru 30 to full (red) and then save to a cue (blue).

Next, set 65 & 67 to full (red).

Now, [Sneak] [Enter] gets rid of (clears) the last entry (65 and 67),  Great! BUT

[Select Manual] (Or [Select Active]) [Sneak] doesn't clear the 1st entries (blues) as I was expecting.

How do I "Clear the Board" like [Release] [Release] did?

I know the answer is staring me in the face. Getting tired I guess.

  • When you record a cue the EOS Family board takes you to the state of that cue (you are in the cue when you hit enter). So to "Release" to a black stage you need to either "Go Cue Out" or "Go to Cue 0" (as in zero). The Expression series didn't take you into the cue when you recorded. That is the difference you are seeing. Check the manual for the nuances of the "Go to Cue" syntax. For most people building a series of cues, working from one cue to the next, only recording changes (i.e.. tracking) is faster than starting from black for each cue.
  • There is a setting (Set-up / Desk / Record Defaults / Auto Playback) that enables / disables the above scenario. if it is enable, then record enter will put you into that cue as described above. If you disable AutoPlayback, then the manual channels should stay manual after you record the cue, since the console won't automatically play back the cue.

  • Oh, right. I think some of our guys - used to the Expression III - might prefer this. Thank you
  • also VERY handy if setting levels by submaster fader handles, and recording cues. with it enabled, the levels come from the Cue, and the sub handles are dead, OR the levels POP up to the HTP level, ruining what was onstage. DISabled, I don't believe anything will change with the record command, and the subs will still be active.
Something to play with and experiment (I don't write many cues that way, so I'm not clear on the different configurations/cause and effects.

  • Oh dear. A bit confusing. We regularly set some lights to get a particular "look" and then save that to a SM. We'll do several. As the rehearsals go we'll raise and lower SMs to get the actual "look" for that part of the script. We would then record that cue. Are you saying that if we have Auto Save enabled (default on Element) then that "look" (From SMs) will not be saved?
  • no, no one is saying that.

when you record a cue (!) while AutoPlayback is enabled, the console will playback that cue automatically hence getting rid of red values, replacing them with the values from the cue (which will be the same levels but either in blue or green).

when you record a sub, AutoPlayback has no influence.

recording a cue or sub will by default also take values that come from a sub (yellow numbers). subs will not be taken into account when recording if the sub(s) in question are set to Exclude Record, or if you do selective recording (record with a channel selection or RecordOnly).
