Question

I would like to make an effect where a light moves along a path, for example. effect 903, figure 8. I want the movement to stop when the light comes from 0 to FL intensity and then move while dark to the next position. If I just combine the two effects, the light moves while it is fading up and down, but I want it to be stationary during the fade. What is the best way to accomplish this?

If you really need a path like the figure of 8 then its probably a bit hard. 
 
But it you want it to move in a straight line between two focus palletes and reset in the dark then its easy 
 
Do something like this 
 
Create an absolute step effect 
 
Step 1 time 6 dwell 0 Level Focus Pallet 1 
Step 2 time 0 Level 0 
Step 3 time 1 Level Focus Pallet 2 
Step 4 time 0 level 100 
 
Thats the simple put light on full move to FP1 slowly then turn it off and move back to FP2 quickly and turn it on again. 
 
If you really wanted the lamp to ramp up then make step 4 be TIme 6 but Step time 0 so it runs the lamp up to full over 6 seconds but moves onto the next step straight away that moves the lamp from FP2 to FP1 over 6 seconds. 
 
Once built you can just adjust the overall effect time in the Cycle time box.
