Trouble with iRFR and Eos 2.7.3?

I just updated my console (XP Eos) to 2.7.3 and now my iRFR app won't connect.

It will still connect to the WiFi router and show the console as available when I start the app, but when I click on it to connect, it then says it's disconnected.

Is anyone else having iRFR trouble with 2.7.3 or should I be investigating my router some more?

  • I have the ETC iRFR Classic application version 2.0.1.9.0.14 on my iPad, which is running iOS 11.4.  I'm attempting to connect to an instance of  ETCnomad, version 2.7.3.5, running on my iMac, which is running macOS 10.13.5.

My symptoms are similar to those of the OP.  The connection definition works fine, shows multiple signal strength bars and indicates that the console is reachable.  After configuring the settings I receive a "ding" sound and the connection has a check mark next to it.

However, when I tap the button at the top of the main menu labeled "Connect to iMac ETCnomad [192.168.1.101] I receive a pop-up notice that says "No Connection:, "Connection failed", "Connection refused".

As far as I can tell, I've configured all the settings in ETCnomad to allow visibility and connections to Remotes.

The iMac doesn't have it's firewall enabled.

I'm not really sure how to proceed with diagnosis.  I'm conducting these tests prior to going on-site at the theatre tomorrow, to use iRFR with a "real" Ion console (firmware version unknown to me).  I just recently installed the iRFR app, and this is my first attempt at using it.

  • I've resolved the problem with ETCnomad.  In the Eos Family Welcome Screen display (which can't be accessed when the console emulator is running), choose Settings, then choose Network.  Near the bottom of the screen is a check-box for WiFi Remote.  It's un-checked by default.  It needs to be checked, and then the change applied.  The iRFR instructions talk about this configuration step, but the organization of the settings options is different between "native" Eos and Eos running as ETCnomad.  (Once again, my experience is with the macOS version.)
