Merging Show File, moving light presets

Hi all!  I'm looking for some advice on best practice when merging show files. We're remounting a production from a different theatre and want to save as much moving light present information as possible. Because of our REP hang, channel ranges will have to move in our NEW showfile/patch. Some fixture types will be changing as well. At the end of the day, in our new show file we would maintain that Ch.551 is in preset 2 from cues 12 through 24 ect...  Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

  • that would probably be best done in two steps:

first create a new version of the productions original showfile. in patch move the channels to the new channel numbers they need to get to avoid conflict with your rep numbers. this will move the data of those channels in all palettes/presets/cues/groups/... as well (it does not move channel data in magic sheets and macros). also move the presets/palettes/groups/... to new number if you have to avoid conflict with existing stuff in your rep showfile. save this new version as intermediate step.

load your rep showfile, merge from the intermediate showfile: channels (with their new numbers), all presets/palettes/cuelists/groups/... you need to get.
