help with translating an effect from expression to ion

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving-

I'm having trouble translating what I thought was an incredibly simple effect from Expression 3 to Ion. I have no trouble applying the effect to the cues. Only recreating the original look.

Here are the Expression effect parameters:

4 steps, each step has one channel, step times are .1, .2, .3, .4 seconds. In/Dwell/Out times are blank.

Positive Random attributes, Random Rates are 200/200.

Cue times are 0, with Dwell set to Hold.

I'd prefer not to cloud anyone's thoughts with what I have attempted so far, I'm just curious if there are programming thoughts.

Many thanks in advance-

  • Big key is you need to give some sort of time for each step in something like Dwell (.1 sec). If you have all Zeros it wont run.

In attributes turn on Random Rate and give it a value of 200. Turn on Random Group.

  • Thanks very much-, so here is what I've done. I had made all the dwell times equal to the step times, and used random rate set to 200 and random group.

All seemed to be ok. I have a second effect which is basically a duplicate of the first effect only 10 steps. After the second effect has been running for a minute or so, it seems to slow way down. It was still executing, but had slowed to a crawl. I'll be checking again to day for inconsistencies in our programming.

    Thanks for the suggestions-
