I hope that it is allowed to publish a post here in which competitor software plays a role. I didn't find any rules. If it is forbidden, please send me a message so that I can delete my post.
I have wondered for a long time if there is a way to legally get a visualizer for free that has an adequate range of functions. Capture was definitely too expensive for me, I only wanted to visualize my small DJ set consisting of 4 LED flat PARs, 2 LED pot PARs and 4 LED bars (12 pixels), so I wouldn't have to go to the warehouse for programming, build everything, ... it costs time.
Now I found together with a friend a possibility which I would like to share with you for young users like me.
I don't know anything about MA, but I came across MA3D a long time ago and used it since then to capture my rigging ideas in pictures. But I also noticed that it should be perfectly integrated into MAonPC. Only it is not compatible to the EOS. But with one trick. You need the following:
-one to three PCs - depends on how indepentend the systems should be and how powerful they are
-ETC EOS Family Software
-grandMA2 onPC
-grandMA 3D
make sure that onPC and 3D are installed in the same version.
Also, if several PCs/laptops are used as in my case, make sure that they are in the same network segment.
Now you connect onPC to 3D as shown in many YouTube videos. Make sure that a session in onPC is active.
If these two are connected, you should make sure that EOS sends sACN, also onPC should be able to receive sACN, add an InputMulticast under Setup -> Network Protocols -> sACN and activate the Input-Listener to the right of it. With a command in onPC (Park DMXUniverse 1 At 0) you could deactivate onPC as DMX value generator, but it is not absolutely necessary.
Now to the difficult point: The fixtures have to be patched additionally in onPC: Setup -> Patch & Fixture Shedule, but you can also see this in a YouTube video by Christian Jackson: Getting Started in onPC.
Now the lamps in MA3D should change during a test in EOS.
I hope that I could help someone with this post.
