I've written before about our total frustration with the ETC-Pad. And, yes we got an answer. Basically "Tough - it's a Google/Android problem". So here I am today with a lighting designer working on "Godspell", up ladders, down ladders, adjusting lights. etc etc and then when trying to show the result of my efforts to find the ETC-Pad has a/ disconnected and b/ "Will not automatically connect" because our LAN is not connected to the internet! So now I have to go through hoops to reconnect while the designer looks at me like I'm nuts. This stuff costs us money. About $2k if I'm right - but you can't put it down for 5 minutes without having to manually reconnect. I hope I'm wrong and that I am doing something dumb. But I don't want another day like today. The Element 2 is totally great but this ETC-Pad just doesn't compare to the old Expression III's remote. Sure, you had to run around with a huge great DMX umbilical but at least the darn thing responded when it was needed.
