EOS Label Command Backspace

When I want to erase a label completely and change it to something else I often hold down the backspace key. I realize that double-tapping the Label key will erase the label without having to use backspace... but it's a habit strongly established by the way we interact with every other computer in the world. Many moons ago I remember this action erasing the Label command entirely (aborting the edit) and I'd have to start all over again. Unless I'm hallucinating, at some point in the history of software updates this was changed so that holding backspace would stop at the start of the label and not abort the edit. If you wanted to cancel the command you had to actually push the Clear key on the console. When interacting with a new Ion Xe running 2.7.4 last week I noticed that this seems to no longer be the case... that problem I remember having many moons ago is back. I also notice this problem on an Ion running 2.7.1. Can anyone else confirm whether I'm hallucinating or not? Has this behavior changed at any point over the years? Am I in an Inception dream? Did it change in 2.7 vs earlier versions? Is this a glitch in the Matrix? Does the behavior vary depending on when you are using the command? Heeeeelp!!!
