Two Nomads = combined address output limit?

Hello!

My school is currently sending out our ION (with a licence for 2048 address outputs) for repairs. We had our ION connected to a Net3 four-port gateway configured with four universes. Another student and I have the education Nomad bundle (with 512 output addresses). We're wondering if we can connect our two laptops with our two Nomad dongles to output 512 addresses each, aka use a total of 1024 addresses when we are both connected to the network. If so, how can we do this?

We have tried connecting one user as Primary, one user as client or backup. In this configuration, the CIA About screen says there is a limit of 512 addresses. When we have a patch that includes less than 512 addresses in this configuration, both computers can control the 512 addresses as expected. When we add more than 512 addresses, we are unable to control the rig and get the error "Patch limit exceeded! Channels -number- and higher will not be output" (or something like that).

Thanks for reading!

  • If you have an original Ion, you should already be able to output 6k addresses if you have updated the software lately.

The base original Ion was 1024 outputs, anything above that got upgraded to 6k outputs with version 2.6 (?) software.

Of course that doesn't help your situation while your console is out for repairs, but it should be updated to the latest software while it is at the factory getting fixed.
