Background values transferring between showfiles

I agree, it’s a great feature, but what about cases where the board op is not a programmer? Do we have to include [Go to Cue] [Out] in every preshow checklist?

A nice solution would be a field similar to include park buffer with options regarding how this load happens. 

This new field would not be default, so that can be forgotten just as easily as a GoToCue Out.

But you understand what I’m getting at. Once a less experienced operator has loaded a new show, they have no indication of what might be going on, since the values sneak to a state outside the current show. Every single operator I know had either had to call someone or go to a forum to find out what is going on. 

I completely understand why this is possible, and I, personally, would have it no other way, but having this configurable or at least indicated in the software would really help a lot of users.

This is the current behaviour, even with an added new option the default would still have to maintain current behaviour.

And since setup is saved within the showfile and not the console itself a setup option wouldn't help either.

The channels don't sneak back to the home values of the previous showfile it's just that values that don't get overridden by the new showfile will stay where they're at.

Which would ask the question why the first cue of the new showfile doesn't have values for all the fixtures parameters...

usually (at least in shows with only one cuelist) i will make sure that my one cuelist owns all parameters of all channels of that show. a parameter is owned by the cuelist that most recently sent a move instruction to that parameter.

so in that case, even if you have more channels patched than you need (e.g. because of repertory) all the channels needed will go to a defined state in the first cue (or even if you start with a different cue and use e.g. GotoCue 5 Enter).

if the moving lights i don't use in this show have pan/tilt values from the old show i don't care. if channels not used by the current show are still on your operator should be able to notice. or to make sure place an AllFade flag on the first cue.

i would consider it risky if some of my channels didn't have a value for some parameters just because they're at their home value anyway. i know that in regular playback you won't notice the difference. until someone changes the home preset. or as in your case someone forgets the GoToCue Out.
