Fixture independent Color Palettes

Hello,

I have researched a lot about Color Palettes, however I am stuck at this point:

I would like to create Color Palettes for use in direct selects in my Template Show File, where I have a range of colors that I can apply to ANY fixture now or in the future. Now I manage to do this with Macro's, but that is a workaround, and doesn't give you the color chips in the direct selects. Is there a way tot obtain this?

Every palette including type paletts can hold data for as many fixture toes as you want, but the fixture your needs to be defined. You can't have a palette that "just works" with everyone fixture type…

the most "general" thing that eos know is a byType palette.

I'm unsure what your Macro work-around is, but I have Macros that selects every LED fixture in my rig and then sets colour palettes for those units. Regardless of whether the unit is RGB, RGBA, RGBW, RLGBI, or whatever.

and yes, the colour chips appear in the direct selects. Do you just have yours disabled?

I think OP is referring to the color chips of the macros. He seems to be not using macros to generate palettes, but rather uses them to change colors, maybe?

That is correct, I want to avoid having different palettes for different fixtures with the same values. E.g. a direct select for 3200K no matter what fixture is selected, as long as it has a color temperature parameter.

Currently I use macro's to set parameter values, so that doesn't give me the chips. For now it works, but i was hoping for a more elegant solution.
