Etc Ion vs etc element

Occasionally I see posts comparing the ion and element. The elements gets regarded somewhat as a joke. Why is this? What makes ion the superior Lighting console?

The Element isn't a joke, it is good for what it is intended, but there are differences, no Encoders for one thing so programming moving lights is slower, only one cue list in another.
