fan button.....

Hi Lane... I guess now would be a good time to explain the plan.   We will be releasing 1.5 in early spring.  This is largely a maintenance release.  We are taking a bit of a time out from adding new features to do some code refactoring to improve performance of the UI.    Having said that, 1.5 will include dimmer feedback, RDM device config and monitoring, effects on subs, more display config choices, (yet more) refinement of referenced marks and lots of syntax extensions.  Or next major feature release will be 2.0 - this is where you can expect to see fan.  It's the top thing on the feature list after 1.5 is wrapped.

Hope this helps.  And, no, am not quite prepared to give a date for 2.0 yet.  :-)

I'm intrigued to know if anyone has found workarounds for the current lack of a fan button? I am embarking on a musical and would rather like to be able to use a fan option!

Hmmmm...

The Effects engine (which I think is rather nice, I must say) does seem to be able to apply curves to a range of channels in a similar way to a fan/align(MA) function, so I wonder if there might be a way for me to "grab" the values at a point during an effect?

For example I might get an effect on the go which creates a set of intensities along some channels starting with CH1@0 and ending in CH48@100 with a lovely even spread inbetween. By pausing this then somehow "capturing" the values I can get myself a nice gradient - I will play around and see if there are effects that would be closer to the traditional fanning of pan and tilt methinks.

If anyone has been down this road already please do add to this thread!

You should be able to use the [freeze] button on the eos to stop the current state of a cue list on stage and then record the values into a new target.
