Our school district just installed an Ion console with a fader wing, LCD and Touchscreen, etc. Some outside groups have already put their presets into the sliders on the wing unit, and we are currently using these presets to light our own music groups. I started with one of their presets, and then added all of the other lights I wanted, which I then "saved as" to my own file name. Now when I open the file, it loads fine, but the lights do not come up. I have looked through the manual, and find it very cumbersome. I understand that any device with the level of capabilities this has will have very complex controls, but my needs are simple. Basically, I want to select the instruments to use on the touchscreen (this works fine), then roll the silver wheel up to the level I want, and finally, save what I am seeing to the fader wing, so I have it permanently there for every concert. We only need about 3 permanent settings for our school needs, and any outside groups or school theatre productions will pay someone to run this, and they obviously know what they are doing. Can someone tell me how to do my simple steps, or can you point me towards a tutorial or other easy description of how to do this?

  • Sadly someone really should have showed you at least a little bit of how to use the console. But to just narrow it down for you;

    -Make your manual changes (bring the lights you want to their levels).
    -When the look you want is on stage you can push [Record] [Sub] Number [Enter]. If the sub already exists, it will ask you to confirm re-recording it.
    -If the sub already exists, you can push [Update] [Sub] Number [Enter].

    When you "Save As" you are just saving a copy of the entire show file - NOT JUST a "look" that is onstage. If you want to keep a look that you have made by bringing up channels then you have to [Record] that data into something like a Submaster or a Cue.

  • Howdy Sevy,

    Have you been able to get a bit more comfortable with your console now? If you still need some assistance,

    we can offer you some online training videos to give a basic overview - or also some support on here.

    Hope things are going better now! :D
