viewing 3rd dvi output

how does one rotate the view of the 3rd DVI output. the image of the attribute dials are 90 degrees out.

  • Are you talking about a Virtual Encoder Module opened on one of your monitors, or the entire monitor screen?

  • Hello, all!  I'm going to pick up this topic with some more questions.

A customer of mine had some questions about this that I couldn't answer.  Please excuse the fact that I'm not currently in front of a desk, so this is from memory...

On an Eos, (V 1.4.3 to be exact) there are two different ways to view the encoders and associated LCD display on an external monitor.  Plugging into the DVI output port on the back of the desk that is associated with the third display (the DVI jack by itself, not the two that are above and below each other) will result in the "C" output, I think it is, by default.  To my recollection, this exactly mimics the encoder screen found on the console, except it's rotated 90°.

When you open up the virtual encoder option, it also results in a page with encoder wheels and the display, and it is situated the right direction, but, in my understanding, the buttons found on that display do not track, real-time, with the buttons on the LCD touch-screen.

Can someone confirm that first, I'm correct in my description about how each of those two options function?  Secondly, what is the "solution" is to actually viewing either the DVI port oriented 90° from its current state (no, physically rotating the monitor isn't exactly the answer I am looking for) or having the virtual encoder screen mimic the button presses?

Remember, this is all from memory at the moment, so go easy on me if my info and assumptions are not correct...  :-)

  • Hello Folks,

I think you may have gotten the console into a confused state.   If your third monitor is showing the encoder page, is rotated at 90 degrees, and  it comes up as monitor “C” under external monitor arrangement then it is definitely confused.

The easiest way to fix this problem is

    1)      Power down the console.

    2)      Disconnect all external monitors.

    3)      Boot the console with no external monitors connected

    4)      Exit to the shell

    5)      Go to “external monitor arrangement” and connect the monitors one at a time starting with monitor 1 and then selecting {Apply} after connecting each one.

  • That makes sense for the monitor port confusion...

Regarding the encoder screen, does the virtual encoder screen mirror the the touchscreen display and button presses (next, last, home, etc.)on the LCD encoder page?  (Basically, I think the intended goal was for someone on another desk or client, or even someone sitting a few feet away and watching the monitors, could see exactly what the board op is seeing physically on his desk.)

  • The virtual controls do not mirror exactly what the encoder page displays.  The information will be accurate and real time.  However, "paging" is not directly linked to a client machine.  You would have to navigate to the page that the board operator is working with.
