Feature Request

I would love to be able to set any of the fader buttons to a tap tempo for the specific effect assigned to that fader. I have tried (and failed) to make a macro for this but if this is possible suggestions would be excellent :)

  • There is (sort of) a way to do this!

The Macro to accomplish a BPM adjustment has to be written in blind (since the keystrokes in live involve using the "Learn" key which would stop recording the Macro!) A Macro for performing a tap tempo of the BPM of of a specific effect that is not already running would require entering in to the blind effect editor. Macro should read "Effect Effect Open_Effect_Blind [Enter] [XXX] Learn_Time_Sample_BPM". You could then assign that Macro to one of your bump buttons on the sub that is running the effect. The bad thing about this is that it does bounce you in to blind but unfortunately, before the effect is running that's the only way to adjust the bpm. You could consider combining this with something like an inhibitive sub to have the effect be active on fixtures if you want to avoid bouncing to blind but that would definitely take some careful planning.

You also have the option of making a fader a rate master for the effect. This has become my preferred method since the option was introduced since for busking I find that it allows me to get really close without a whole lot of extra complication.

I would second thinking it would be wonderful to just have a clean tap tempo button on a bump button, but in the meantime, hopefully this works for you!

  • Yeah, I do use effect rate subs but ideally I’d like my sub to be size, then tap tempo on the bump to save Faders. I’ll try that macro but going into blind isn’t ideal.

  • I realize your fader space is probably incredibly valuable... but in that case you could consider using a second fader next to the other to be able to control both rate and size!

  • Yep. I’d do that if I had enough faders, I’m stuck on a standard 2x10 so have really limited faders and would like to avoid that if possible
