Effects on the Ion

The documented way to stop an effect is:

Pressing [Stop Effect] [Enter] will stop all running effects.
To stop a specific effect, press: [Stop Effect] [x] [Enter].
You may also stop effects on specific channels by [selecting channels] [Stop Effect] [Enter].
You may also remove an effect instruction by [selecting channels] [Effect] [At] [Enter]. This
command will work in live or blind. You can also stop the whole effect by pressing [Effect] [x] [At]
[Enter]

I seem to remember having more than 1 effect running in the same cue in the last show I did without any issues. You could always create a multipart cue and record the effects into each part, or create multiple cues with a follow time of zero.

Yes, but isn't there no [Stop Effect] on the Ion, or am I really just dumb?

And I am wondering about start/stopping without cues, busking style.

There is a softkey for stopeffect

you need to clear the programmer then

<effect><More SK> <stop effect>

The other option that I started using tonight was using single cue cue lists loaded on faders. 

By turning the the fader to an intensity master you can execute the effect in a contained cue stack. All of this should be moot when v1.5 is released and we have effects on subs....but for now it is more about the single cue on a fader.

For what its worth with the command line empty you can also press Fader Control then Stop Effect will be a softkey (S4).

Thanks for the help, I hadn't thought about the buried softkeys.  And good tip about the Fader Control key- though is it just a coincidence, or is there a logical connection between controlling a fader and stopping an effect?

And guess there is no way to have channel 1 execute effects 1, 3 and 7 simultaneously from the command line?

I may be wrong here, but I think that its 3 seperate commands

I.E. Chan 1 at effect 901

Chan 1 at effect 902

Chan 1 at effect 903

Unfortunatly, it woul have to be 3 seperate commands.  Maybe a macro would be the answer here?

Just a thought for the ETC chaps.... would it be possible to include effects into preset records?  That way you could have multiple effects applied to the one channel that are triggered simultaniously as they are part of the preset.  Would anyone else find this useful?
