Effects on Ion

Hiya guys,

I've had a look around the forum, but so far haven't been able to find the answer to what I'm sure is a relatively simple problem!

We're currently looking at an ion and demoing it, so far almost everything we've found on the desk has been really easy to use however we aren't able to effectively make chases.

We want to record a simple chase that allows us to vary multiple attributes in one go.  We've tried making step based effects however we only seem to be able to change one paramater at a time.  Also when we try and just run the preset movement effects (901 etc) we didn't seem able to use these either.

Ideally we just need step by step instructions that can tell us how to program an effect involving for example colour movement and intensity in all of the steps, using the same lights over multiple steps..?

I'm sure we're probably missing something really easy.

Thanks for your help

  • Diarmuid,

Try recording each of your steps as Presets, which are like Palettes but with multiple parameters.  Then use an Absolute Effect.  There, each step will perform an Action and those actions will be your presets.

Also, you can use presets/palettes as your on/off states in a Step Effect.  Playing around with that you could come up with something.

You may already know this, but you can have one channel executing multiple effects at the same time.  That would be a simple way to have a light do a five second color roll (effect 1) and flash on and off every two seconds (effect 2).

See if that helps at all, B

  • What I am reading here tells me that you might be better suited to be using multiple cue lists rather than executing an effect durring a single cue list.

you can build the individual changes as linked cues and fire them from a secondary fader.
