A couple of questions

Hej there guys and gals,

I´m wondering about a few behaviors:

1. Where I´m working right now the LD get´s the Backup-Console to his desk during the rehearsals (partly programming, partly as channel/PSD-Monitor. That´s why we put it out there and back into the booth on a daily basis. That means it´s physically removed from the network and the power supply. I wanted to be able to power it up from the main-desk. For this to work both consoles must get powered up manually once after getting them back to power and network. From now on the Backup will react to the remote startup but only until it get´s unplugged again.
Is that the expected behaviour?
It´s a GIO and a Win7 ION running 2.8.2 connected through a managed switch (D-link Web Smart Switch DGS-1210-10p). Can the managed switch be the problem here?
I didn´t set up the network and didn´t check the settings of the switch so far.

2. In this venue they arranged the power supplies for the Moving Lights as a second part with the parameter "MasterIntensity". When I press @_@ with one of those guys selected it won´t bring it´s intensity to full (Level is configured as 100%) but write MasInt to the commandline (selection stays intact). Is this the behaviour for a reason? And is it possible to configure what @@ is doing?

3. Third and last is a strange one. My LD wanted to mix RGBW colors via faderwing so I configured a couple of faders for him. Then he was wondering why he can´t flash the single colors with them when in a cue and I explained that not both behaviors will work correctly in the same sub and I have to give him a second set of faders.
He sat on a universal faderwing and wanted to have the flash-subs where the mixing ones had been. I wanted to keep my subs in order and moved the mixing ones to another range I thought has had nothing in at that time (there were empty subs, I created 1 thru 40 in the beginning). Here I made a mistake the range I moved them to has not been empty but some conventionals in them (26 thru 30). I didn´t recognize that at the time. Next thing I did was creating new Subs (36 thru 40) and edited them in blind to flash the LED colors.
When we tried them they flashed the conventionals from sub 26 to 30 with them. That´s strange isn´t it?
An additional info could be that i never deleted the assignment of sub 36 thru 40 to faders 36 to 40 (even if the subs didn´t exist after I moved them in the first place).
Can that be  the reason for the strange behaviour? Haven´ t had the time yet to recreate...

Thanks for your attention and I hope I could make myself clear.

Cheers Paule

  • Hi Paule:

    1.  If the units have connected as Master/Backup then remote power on should work.  If they are run in a different mode or connected to a different console in between this would require them to reconnect once, but powering them off should not.  Are they maintaining the same IPs?

    2. @@ is for intensity and so far as I know cannot be changed.  Have you considered parking the power addresses on rather than using "Master intensity"?

    3. Can you see those conventional in blind?  If you latch them on and look at About what are they showing as their source?

    Thanks

  • Hej Sasha,
    to No. 1:
The two consoles are always connected as Master and Backup and there is no client on the network. It´s just that everything is unplugged and has no power supply over night. They are in the same IP range and connect properly when powered up manualy. I probably have to check if that will happen with an unmanaged switch as well...
But did I get you right that it will never be possible to wake up a client via network?

    to No. 2:
It´s no big deal I was just wondering. I´m just helping out for a couple of weeks and don´t want to change their system.
I usually have the ML-Powers in lamp control or as parked channels in their own range.

    to No. 3:
I can not check any longer as this happened last week and I undo-ed everything and moved the original subs to a free range and all was fine. BUT I can tell in blind those conventionals didn´t show up. I double double checked that as I was wondering that much.
Maybe I´ll find time to recreate and if it will appear again I can keep a version of that showfile.

Thank you very much anyway for your quick response!

    Cheers
    Paule

  • I think something is wrong in #1 then.  I think you should be able to execute the wake on lan so I would agree that if you can trying an unmanaged switch would be great.
You could wake a client RVI from a Master on the network.
