FLASHING ENCODER!!!

Question

The strangest thing is happening as we speak on my Gio@5. 
 
 All of a sudden the 3rd encoder box became highlighted and it's blinking. Also, when I press "group" it automatically fills out the command like with "group cue #". It's possessed!!! I can't finish designing for tomorrow. 
 
 I have restarted the console. I then saved the log and cleared the cache thing. 
 
 What in the world is going on? 
 
 2.8.2 build 9. Downloading 2.8.3 right now.

this looks to me like a malfunctioning encoder. it's like the console registers a movement of the encoder. that would explain why the commandline gets terminated. 
 if this happens again i would suggest exiting to the shell and in the maintenance section of the shell perform a facepanel check. let it sit there and see if on of the encoders registers something.
