Help? Nomad issues

Hello people of the smart internet-

Quick question for you all- I'm trying to implement a ETC Nomad/Gadget II education pack at my school with a bunch of Lehigh equipment. I've already checked that it is 512, and not 6144, and that my cables are wired properly. We have a few sets of on-stage RGB's, and some (9 I believe) Ferrells pointing to the stage. I know this will probally make me sound stupid, but once everything is hooked up, how do I connect it to the system to be controlled?

Best and Thanks

Aidan

in the nomad software you have to use the patch window (Alt-A-A) to connect the lights to your nomad.

in the patch window you connect channel numbers to addresses.
    - channel numbers are the numbers you use to tell the console which fixture you mean. they can be numbered contiguously or in blocks, anything you want. you can start stage right side with number 1 and number up towards stage left, or the other way round, just in any fashion that is helpful to you to remember which light is represented by which channel number.
    - addresses are the DMX address. you have connected all the RGBs to each other by DMX cables (right?). in that cable you have a lot of information travelling and you need to tell each fixture to which information within the cable it has to listen.

you can first in patch setup everything and then go to the fixtures and address them accordingly.

so in the patch window, e.g.:
Chan 1 Thru 10 Type (and now in the library look for the manufacturer and model type and choose it).
    At 101 Enter.

you will see that your ten channels are now one of your RGBs each, and for each one you can see the start address. write down those numbers and go to each light and set it to this address.
