effect: "scrolling" tungsten cyc channels

Hi, all. I'm a relative noob when it comes to effects and I'm having trouble figuring this one out. Our cyc is lit by (4) 12-unit tungsten multipars, each split into (3) channels by color. So I have channels 151-154 for R, 161-164 for G, and 171-174 for blue. I can achieve white-ish by mixing RGB, with R slightly lower. What I want to do is end up with white across the whole, but march one blue channel across.

I've got blue marching across with a step effect that fades in and out channels 174 thru 171 sequentially, but to achieve white over the rest at the same time is giving me a headache. I've been considering whether I can use intensity palettes, or three steps to set blue fade in on the one channel, red to one intensity on the other three, blue-green to another int on the other three, but what I really need to do is transition from white to blue on the one channel that's marching, which effectively means have all channels up but sequentially fade out RG on one section so that only blue is left, then bring them back up as blue moves to the next section, etc.

What's the best way to get there? Thanks for any pointers.

    Just create an absolute effect with two steps

    step 1 step time 1  level 100

    step 2 setp time 3  level background

    now change the cycle time to whatever you want as the real time it should take for the sequence (we just used the number above to get the ratio right between the 4 lamps in the sequence)  (Grouping should be spread if its not defaulted to that)

    then 171 thru 174 effect whatever number it was, and it should do it.

    Obviously if you have them all at full before you start you wont see anything as the blue can be stronger than full.  But if you set them all to 50% then you should get the effect you are after,

    Thanks, Mike A. For some reason while I did see the Bkgd option column (Level?) earlier today somewhere, now when I create an absolute effect that column is missing, so I can't set level. In Effects, I hit e.g. "[7] [enter]" then click Absolute, and I get columns Action, Param, Step Time and Time. What happened to Level? Using 2.8.2b8.

    You can actually resize the columns by draging the dividing line between the column headings.  It is actually possible to drag the width of the previous column (axctually looks like you've got two columns dragged off the side as there should be Time, Dwell, Level.

    You should be able to drag the right side of the last column you can see back and get the others back,
