ByType Palettes, a query?

Hi all

I have a query re Bytype Pallettes and I understand the premise of these.

I am looking towards creating a default show file and I have 8no. RGBW LED pars & 4no. Mac 250 style movers.

I have a magic sheet set up and all is fine. No issues with my set up.

I am wondering as to how strict a Bytype pallette is. I get a lot of 1 night stands and variety shows that often bring in a selection of LED additions. I am wondering if the Bytype Pallete referencing my RGBW units can "understand" a different type of fixture that is just RGB or RGBWA etc.

I understand if the channel e.g. Amber, is not in the original Bytype pallette, I will not see it etc but the RGB values might be etc?

I am looking towards simplifying the button pressing especially as the user may not be that familiar with the desk and I have to everywhere at once.....

At the moment, I just update the current palettes in the magic sheet and save the show as a different file.

Does the above make sense?

  • HI

I kinda figured. Always meant to ask the question. Thank you for the prompt reply.

Is this something that would be considered a feature in my request or a hassle??

I understand this could be run into messy times but maybe there is the gem of a feature here...?

I am just thinking of updating & adding gear to a house plot on a short one day. Pre-plotting is not going to happen in my case. Most of the lighting people are just busking it for the day and sometimes I have to pick up the slack.
