MIDI controller as fader wing on Ion XE

Install Luminosus on another computer networked to the console, set the IP address of the console in the software, hook up the BCF2000 to that computer and follow the instructions for mapping and voila! Have fun!!

Once I initially map the Ion functions to the BCF2000, will I still have to use the additional computer or can I plug the BCF2000 right into the USB on the XE?

you will need the computer for the wing if you use Luminosus.

I'm not shure about EOS and midi in for fader control, I don't know EOS that good but if it works you need a MIDI gateway between the wing and the console. IonXE do not have Midi in.

Midi in on an Eos console goes into the show control tab and as such can control cues, macros and subs. So depending on what you want to map you can do it on Eos directly, but you will not get the feedback put the motor faders to the correct position after a page change or after you have controlled a fader or a sub on Eos directly
