SOS - URGENT - START BUTTON FAULT

Tech at theater just called me at home. They press the start button and nothing happens unless they press it several times! They can hear it 'click' but again, no CUE move. They're doing a full scale rehearsal this afternoon (Sunday 2nd) so I'm leaving them to work things out best they can and plan to go in 1st thing Monday. I'll take some contact cleaner, aerosol, test for continuity etc but find it hard to believe this is mechanical - there must be thousand of these boards working their butts off around the world by now and I reckon the GO button gets a lot more pounding then we give it. I'm monitoring the board this afternoon in case any one has any ideas. Thanks.

  • To all who helped here thankyou. Went through shell maintenance face panel test and after tapping 200 times estimated a 20% (approx.) failure to respond. ETC tech advise lifting key cap and checking the "Cherry" blue push button was properly seated and a quick looked at the PCB solder joints looked fine so we're going to have to get a loaner and send this in for service. Our techs will use the USB kbd Space Bar until replacement arrives. .One gripe. When board 1st arrived only the power supply worked so I had to open it (under ETC directions) and reseat all power clips to various PCBs. Probably loosened during trauma of shipping. The gripe? Well, ETC ram these little screws in with a power drill. To loosen them took a lot of effort and one became so mangled I had to drill the head off! Please ETC put these in comfortably tight (only).
