Simple Moving Head Start

You start by patching the fixture - hopefully there is a fixture profile for it already.  Then you position the beam to the position you want it in a record a focus pallet then the other position then record another focus pallet and then you can move betweeen them on an effect or cue or sub etc.

if your question is really that you want to limit the range then you could edit the fixture profile and set the max min values for Pam and tilt but it probably not worth it as this is and led moving head and it’s not going to roast anything if it end up being pointed at something too close.

I've started to make a profile at home using ETC's "Persedit" program for my EXP3 simulator but can't load the profile. I tried to rename my USB drive to "a:" to see if I could load the personality but no luck. Will try at theater tomorrow. In the meantime I'm looking up the focus pallet stuff.

Persedit will not make an Eos family profile. 

You can make one on the console, or via "Nomad" the Eos family simulator. Get Nomad because it does a whole lot more than make fixture profiles. 

Right, EOS (we use ELE2 in main theater) is a different beast to the EXP3 I'm discussing and which we use in our smaller theater. As far as I know the only way to make a personality for the EXP3 is with "Persedit"

Woops. Actually I had to post similar in both the EOS/Element 2 (for our main theater) forum and the legacy Expression 3 forum because I'm going to use them in both houses. As I can't get a saved "Persedit" file off my USB drive and into my EXP3 simulator suite at home I'll have to do this in the theater. Thanks for the input

I believe in the Expression Offline you had to have a real floppy disk drive, just as you will at your Expression itself, in order to pull the file.

Well, I posted pretty much the same in both forums and I guess I heard back what comments there were. Yep, I'll make a EXP Perfedit, put it on a disk (we converted 3.5 to USB)and try it in the console. Its really just a matter of me pulling the manuals and getting down to it. Thanks for the asssisr
