Although we're running a ELE2 console I know I am addressing the wrong Forum section. But here is the problem;
I left the theater at 2pm.with all circuits working as expected. We have about 90 regular halogen legacy lights and two bars, each with 3 LED's fed by wireless DMX receivers (Rx). Downstage left and right are two ADJ Cannon's plus DMX wireless receivers. Downstage right, above the desk is a DMX breakout box. It is a 20 year old system so to ensure isolation I run a DMC cable from the box (which taps Universe 1 going from control booth to ETC Sensor dimmer rack) to DMX a Opto isolated break-out box. One of the outlets feeds a DMX a wireless transmitter (Tx). An hour back I got a frantic call; None of the LED's were working! As the DMX Tx was pulsing red and the DMX receivers flashing green I was sure we had DMX signals over the network. Eventually we removed power from one of the Canon's and everything else worked! Now, here's the rub - I saw this a few weeks back on "Mam Mia"! and at that time I removed the DMX Tx and Rx and hardwired the lot! Things worked well until it was pointed out our FX boxes on a auditorium bar needed a Wireless DMX signal. In frustration I picked up the DMX Tx we had replaced with cable and put it on one of the cable fed LEDs. And it worked!
So, bottom line. Just how reliable are wireless DMX Tx/Rx? A couple of theaters I have spoken to said they use them a lot with no problem but here we have case when a/ A suspect Tx was relocated and worked and b/ A LED and its Rx were removed and things came back to normal.
Again, wrong forum so advice to where to point his appreciated. Or if you have ideas, info again appreciated.
