How to properly increase rate of absolute focus palette effects

Hello, I'm a relatively new user, please bear with me.

I am creating a number of movement effects which I intend to place on submasters for busking purposes in the future.

I've been building these moves using focus palettes in an absolute effect.

The issue I'm having is that the fixtures always move very slow between these positions. Reducing the cycle time results in the effect speeding up but not completing its full range of movement. For instance, I make an effect that has two fixtures start vertical, move across stage so the beams crossed each other and then back again. Reducing the cycle time would result in the lights rapidly reaching 1/3 across the stage and back again without moving far enough to actually cross over.

Recording this effect to a sub, I can use the fader config tab to make a second fader control the effect's rate. However, I can only make the effect happen even slower, the highest value being the original speed and as I bring the fader down, the effect slows.

Any help on how to rectify this problem would be appreciated. I feel I have missed something along the way

Thanks,
Luke

  • Without using an effect if you just select the fixtures and enter the focus pallete does it move quickly - it feels like the motor speed is set slow, so they wont move as fast as the desk is giving their poistion.  Almost always you want the fixture motor speed to be set to max so what the desk says is what the light does.

You may find for busking its easier not to use the effect at all and just have a macro that does say   Group 1 Sneak 2 Focus Pallete 1 enter  which would move the lights to that focus in 2 seconds.

If you want to make it a lot easier use a magic sheet and have buttons to select the fixtures,   buttons for Sneak 1,  Sneak2,  Sneak 5, Sneak 10 etc  and buttons for each Focus pallete.

Then its 3 mouse clicks to make the beams move from vertical to crossed in whatever time you select etc.
