Using Eos Offline software as a "listen only" client.

Hello once more,

Long story short, I am looking to provide an LD with a selected/active channels display so that he can easily view what is going on without having to lean over my shoulder when he says " can I see what Ch20 is at?" or suchlike.

To avoid using my own screen space, one solution might be to use the Eos Offline software in client mode with such a display on the screen, networked with the main console.

I understand that I would need a client Dongle to enjoy a PC based part of an Eos network - but is it possible to have a listen only client (or something similar) which doesn't need a dongle?

Many thanks,

Leo

  • In a bit of breaking news, starting with sv1.8, you will be able to connect a PC running the offline software to a network without a client dongle.  When this is done, that device can work in mirror mode only (meaning it will mimic the displays of the primary console).   The only operations possible from the PC at this point will be paging.  If you want to do more than view the programmers displays, you will still need a client dongle.
