How to update the IO Board firmware?

So I'm trying to update the I/O board to 1.4.x on the Element after updating to Eos 2.9.0. It does have an ethernet port. However, when I try to update according to the instructions here (https://support.etcconnect.com/ETC/Consoles/Eos_Family/Programming_and_Fader_Wings/How_to_update_Gadget_IO_firmware_on_an_Eos_Family_console), when it gets to the I/O downloader step it'll show the options including 1.4.x but when I click on 'download' it'll attempt to do so, then fail. Does the board need to be connected to an internet-enabled network? Just a PC/console that has the firmware available? Or can I just download the file to a thumb drive and install the firmware from there? Thanks!

  • Hi,

Your console does not (ever) need to be connected to the internet to do these updates, there's another reason this doesn't work. [The term "Download" in this menu is a bit misleading; it means downloading the firmware onto the PCB.]

When you say it's attempting to download and then fails, how does that display ? Did you wait a little after selecting the correct firmware version in the dropdown menu (1.4.2...., underlayed blue when selected) and clicking "Download" ?

If you have done everything like described in the support article you are mentioning, it is best to contact ETC Tech Support for this matter to guide you through this.

    Kind regard,

    Matthias
