Multicell Logic and Usage Questions

So admittedly I don't use multicell features very often, so I'm sure that some of my issue with it stems from not using it very often.  That being said, issues like this one are the reason why I shy away from it, because this makes multicell fixtures more work to use than just using dozens of channels.

The issue that I'm having is that selecting channels and applying something to them, like a color palette, is not applying that data to the cells underneath it.  Essentially [101] [Color Palette] [21] and [101] {Minus Cells} [Color Palette] [21] work in exactly the same way.

Is this how it should work?  I've always been under the impression that applying things to channels without specifying cells or masters would apply to both masters AND cells.  My first workaround to this was to delete the color attributes from the master profile, but this removed color information from the tombstone, so that's not helpful.  Deleting the master from patch removes the tombstone entirely, so I can't select the cells.

  • One solution I've found to applying parameter changes to only the cells is to first make the master channel type Virtual Master (you can find it when searching for fixtures in the patch). This fixture type has no parameters, so any changes you make while selecting it will transfer to its cells. (eg If I have some RGB LEDs as cells of a Virtual Master and I change the blue parameter of the master, all the cells' blue parameters will change accordingly. Please let me know if you want any clarification.
