EOS syntax

As a newcomer to the Gio and a relative newcomer to command line syntax, EOS seems a little inconsistent. It accepts ‘Cue # label name’, with the ‘verb’ following the target, but not ‘Cue # Record’. Surely in this day and age it could be made a bit more tolerant and accept either order?

  • It's actually very consistent, sometimes stubbornly so.

It's always Object Action Target. In some situation you can omit object or target.

    Chan 1 At 50

    Cue 5 Time 20

    Chan 1 Record Preset 3

    Cue 4 Label xyz

Chan 2 Address 8 (in Patch)

    Cue 2 Link 9

When you type Record Cue 5 you're omitting the object portion. It could be Channel 7 Record Cue 7, but by not specifying channels it will take everything.

Another example of omitting would be Chan 11 At Enter (where the target is not specified)
