Weird P&T for Profile

Have a couple of super cheap "Ridgyard 36 x 10w Moving Head LED Stage Lights" Big and solid but having a problem making a profile for them.

Their Pan and Tilt designations look like this

07 Pan

08 TIlt

09 Pan fine (16bit)

10 Tilt fine (16bit)

Ugh! If I enter a new row for the Pan and choose 16bit I think this must use two consecutive DMX addresses right?

Of course it can always be a typo in the cheap literature. I can't see how you can turn two none consecutive DMX addresses into one 16 bit word.

    which version of EOS are you using?  You can assign a non-consecutive address for the LO Pan or LO Tilt when creating the fixture.

    Oh yeh! Got it thanks. Now if we're using 16bit P and Ts, I would assume the lower bits are for the fine tuning and the upper for coarse? RIght?

    I've got EOS on my home computer so able to follow your lead, make the changes and then use the profile.  I put these in as splits and watched the Live Table after changing P&Ts in the ML window. If that had been a typo and I let them run H/L consecutively some odd things would have happened I reckon.

    basically that's true but its easier to just think of it that the first parameter address is what the manual says is Pan and the second you put in is the fine so choose 16bit pan and put in 7, 9  and tilt 8,10

    But it sounds like you've got it working already anyway. 

    Usually the problem on these cheap ones is the manual (read sheet of badly photo copied bit of paper) is not actually correct and to find the fine paremter you need for fine adjust you have to put you finger on the fixture while changing each parameter until you feel it moving a little!!

    That is a neat (finger) tip! I've posted it into my Bench Notes but it brought up a question;

    Say I patched a mode 12  fixture to control channel 101 and pointed it to 12 DMX addresses starting at 400.

    Now, If I wanted to drive a 0 - 255 value out to a specific address (like 401) to see if was the pan fine - is there a way I can put a value directly out to a DMX address without patching a channel? Never thought of this before.

    According to the manual

    1. Address at Level

      The [Address/Patch] key in Live is used to send level information directly to an output address.

      • [Address/Patch] [5] [Full] [Enter] - sets output address 5 to full. It will return to its previous level once the command line changes.

      • [Address/Patch] [2] [/] [1] [At] [/] [2][3][0] [Enter] - sets universe 2, address 1 at DMX value 230.

        With [Address/Patch] on the command line, you can use the level wheel to adjust the level.

        After using the [Address/Patch] command, [Next] and [Last] may be used to increment the address number and set it to the same level.

        Addresses return to their previous level once the command line is cleared, or [Next]/[Last] is used to increment to the next address.
