Element Board Deleting Cues/Not Retaining Saved Data

Two show weeks in a row, our ETC Element board is not retaining all save data. I updated the EOS software to the newest release, cleared up space by deleting older show files, and backed up the second show to a flash drive. When I turned on the board today, even the show on the flash drive was missing all the same save data from yesterday. Any thoughts on what could be going on?

  • The behaviour sounds like something that can happen if the date tine gets changed on the console by something.

the reason being the backups are time stamped each tine you save it creates a new file and doesn’t overwrite the previous save.  So if somehow the time changes then the one displayed and loaded will not actually be the most recent.

In the console you can select  which save from a set of saves you open, by expanding what displays as the saved fuel and you see all the versions.  You may find the one you are looking for is there but with an older date (you will probably need to open each version in turn to find it)

why the date changed is a different question but maybe the cmos battery has died and it reset back to some old date. Maybe someone on the console changed the date for daylight saving time change.

  • Interesting. Thank you for the response. I'll check some of the older saves when I go in today and check the date/time settings. It really does seem like we're losing 48 hours of data when the console shuts off.
