macOS backup system settings is not possible

On macOS (Catalina) it is not possible to make a backup of the system setting.
When try to backup I get an advice to use the hidden filename, however. If I do so the filename has a very crazy name e.g. ".Mac.system.ini.system.ini.system.ini"
It is not possible to restore the system settings with this file name. No filename, hidden or not, is accepted as valid.

  • It looks like a bug as whilst you can overtype the save as filename and it then saves it with the name + .system.ini

ie I typed in sys_bu191105  and it saves it fine as sys_bu191105.systen.ini

The restore appears to have its allowed file extension filter set to something unmatchable (suspect its been set to .system.ini which mac os would never match on as it considers the file extension only to be after the last dot not the first dot -  the fix is probably as simple as changing the filter string from ".system.ini" to ".ini" in the code)
