Double Press + Key

Hello wondering if anyone can help/knows. If you double Press the + key it changea to a | I can't see what this is ment to do anywhere, it seems to act just like the plus ?

it only makes a difference if used with multicell channels Chan 1 + 2 Cell 1 = Chan 1.1 + 2.1 Chan 1 | 2 Cell 1 = Chan 1 + Chan 2.1
